A Vital Link In Your Health Stewardship Program

Much of the stress and anxiety we feel each day is self-imposed.

Take for example the family that dreams of having a boat. Finally they purchase one. Now they have added hours of chores to take care of it, hours of driving to put it in the water, and many new costs to keep it up. After a few months the children would rather play with their friends, the parents are torn between playing on the weekends and keeping up the house and the yard. These go undone or the boat sits in storage. All these irritations build until the family is wondering why they ever got the boat in the first place. I am not saying, "Don't buy a boat." I am saying, make your dreams line up with reality so that when you have them you are prepared for the additional burden. You only have so much time in a day and in your life. Spend it wisely.

As I have grown a little wiser, I have realized that I am happy when I decide to make whatever I am doing enjoyable. Many people must perform many mundane and repetitive tasks everyday. And a key to reducing stress is to learn to enjoy them. Take time to really look at the kitchen after you have cleaned it and think about how pleased it makes you. Focus on the feeling of success and the beauty of a task well done. It is just as easy to think a good, positive thought as it is to think a negative one. The choice is ours.
