" " Meditation, Prayer & Faith

A Vital Link In Your Health Maintenance Program

Meditation is the soil from which effectual prayer and faith spring. The more thought you invest in meditation upon the word of God and His creation, the more your prayers will bring evidence of your faith. Now, let's define these terms.

According to Webster's 1828 Dictionary: Meditation is close or continued thought; the turning or revolving of a subject in one's mind; serious contemplation. We are not talking about the type of meditation popularized in movies where someone chants a mantra and goes into a trance. Meditation involves a fully engaged mind.

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in Thee." Isaiah 26:3

"His delight is in the law of the Lord and in his law doth he meditate day and night." Psalm 1

Prayer is the topic of many books. I have read a few myself. Jesus' example is all you need. Don't get all uptight about prayer. Don't use fancy words or get loud. Just talk to your heavenly Father. He has promised that He will never, never leave you. So He's listening. Many times we get frustrated by the results or lack of results we seem to get from our prayers. The purpose of conversation with the Lord should be communication, not results. If you only pray when you want something, even good things, you are acting like a four year old child. Grow up. Ask your Father what He wants today.

According to Hebrews 1:1, "... faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." It then proceeds to tell of many old testament characters that trusted God. Faith is trust. If you spend time in authentic conversation with the Lord and meditation on His words you will grow to trust Him more.
