Bad Germs Can't Beat Good Habits
I have been on a quest for the past twenty years. What should we eat? Does God care how we feed ourselves? Are there principles in the field of nutrition that you don’t need a Ph.D. to follow? Yes, I believe there are principles governing every area of life to guide us in decision making.
The first principle becomes apparent as you look at the healthier peoples of the world.
Most of the food we eat should be raw. God packaged our nutrition in plants to preserve it. Even if we eat meat, the nutrients that we get from the meat came from the plants that the animal ate. God’s packaging is best.
Enzymes hold molecules in positions which facilitate chemical reaction, then released the new molecule. See video below.
The reason that fresh, live fruits and vegetables are so important are the enzymes. Enzymes are necessary for each reaction that happens in every living cell. When our diet does not provide working enzymes to our body, our body must use the enzymes in our white blood cells to digest and assimilate our food. This depletes our immune system and causes chronic problems.
But what about the seasons when there is no food growing? That is a good question. The easiest way to preserve food and yet retain its God given nutrients is to dry it. Drying at very low temperatures removes the moisture without destroying the nutrients and enzymes. Drying stops the chemical reactions in every cell of the food, thus preserving it, yet without destroying the enzymes. (Freezing slows the reactions down, but requires a lot of space and energy to maintain.) Many properly dried food s are available in stores or from cooperatives. But the best dried food is that which you have grown and dried yourself.
I have not arrived at this point yet .I have not figured out how to grow anything much in Houston soil. (Please notice a new column, Urban Gardener.) I admit I have not tried very hard yet. But do not condemn yourself for what you have not done. Rather, keep building on what you have accomplished. Be patient and do your best. God will set your priorities for you if you allow Him to inspire you.
You may be in need of a food supplement. I have tried many. I believe you can get most of your nutrients from your diet. I have tried juicing, but I only juice what tastes good to me, not necessarily the foods I need. And it is very messy and time consuming. If you eat a relatively good diet, you may only require an enzyme supplement.
Choose live foods first. Next choose dried, untreated foods, then frozen. Avoid canned foods, except beans and grains which you have to cook for hours anyway. Always endeavor to get live foods in each meal. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures above 129 degree F., so even steaming will destroy enzymes.
I have lived a raw food lifestyle for short periods of time and have felt the vitality of good health before. But it takes a lot of self discipline to eat 80% raw foods, especially if the rest of your family does not see the importance of it. So now I use organic live food supplements from V E Irons to support my health.
Dr. Santillo is the author of Natural Healing with Herbs. He also supervises the course for the Master of Herbs degree which I am pursuing. So I was very excited to try his enzyme supplement which contains live enzymes and antioxidants. And I am even more excited now that I have been taking it for a while. All my chronic problems are being corrected. For the benefits of juicing 8 glasses a day, but in capsule form; contact me.
